The last 14 Days!
Recap: My wife (Lesley) had two epileptic fits last year, after various scans & tests it turns out that she had a small tumor on the right frontal lobe. She was put on a waiting list to have this removed.
A few months back we were told that the operation would likely to be the beginning to mid June.
Tuesday the 22nd we received a phone call from the hospital to ask if Lesley could go in on the Friday for a pre-med check up, with the view of having the operation on the following Wednesday! Though Lesley has been preparing herself for this Op, suddenly finding out that on the following week she was to have brain surgery didn’t go down too well.
Wednesday the 23rd – Jacob’s 4th birthday party, I’ve never heard so many screaming kids!
Thursday 24th – It’s moving day!! Finally after eight months of waiting we are moving house. I didn’t realise how much ‘crap’ we have, going from a three bed to a four we now have the extra room to store it ;)
The fourth room has become the office, and I tell you it’s a fair size.
The Bank holiday weekend was spent unpacking and getting the house in some sort of order.
Tuesday the 29th Lesley checks in to the hospital.
Wednesday the 30th – Operation day and all goes well, she was a brave girl.
Today (Monday) – Lesley is due to be discharged, but unfortunately the consultant was unable to visit her, so it’s put off till tomorrow, so another night is added to her stay.
So what with shipping Jacob off to friends and relatives, hospital visits, unpacking and cramming in a few hours of work it’s been a hectic last 14 days.
To top it all I’m off to @media on Thursday, originally I planned to go up on the Wednesday and attend the pre-party, glad I hadn’t booked this, I feel guilty as it is leaving Lesley so soon after coming home.
I’m getting excited about attending, but on the other hand I’m once again nervous. I attended FOWD back in April, which was a great event but would have been greater if I had networked rather then stood around a billy no mates! I’m hoping @media I will get to latch onto a few other attendees during the day so I have at least someone I recognise to chat to at the evening party.
Maybe this is wishful thinking but I have hopes of getting the chance to say Hi to Mr Jon Hicks, he’s such an awesome artist as most of you will know (yeah I know I’m such a kiss a**).
Btw, if anyone wants to be my friend for the two days just drop me an email with your beer requirements ;)
See you there.
